Obama To Redistribute Wealth (In his own words)

There have been Obama supporters all over WordPress challenging the assertions that the Illinois senator is a socialist. I’ve provided some evidence of this, but now…hear it straight from the man himself.

He doesn’t mince words. He wants to redistribute wealth. He intermingles the term with the Orwellian economic justice. What exactly does that mean? In his twisted opinion, the Supreme Court basically failed to address the issue of redistribution (as if it was appropriate for them for them to do so). The court didn’t stray from what Obama describes as the negative liberties of the Constitution, such as what the government cannot do to you. He apparently thinks the Constitution should outline what the government must do for you. I think it’s outlined plenty. The problems start when the document is misinterpreted and/or subverted. George Bush will tell you. And now Obama’s gonna’ tell you how it’ gonna’ be-case closed. It looks like Obama plans to remedy that little defect we like to call the Constitution.

Check out Annsnewfriend’s Weblog if you can stomach it. There is a clip of a radio interview Obama did a while back for a Chicago radio show. He’s been dropping hints the whole campaign. Yes, there will be those in absolute denial, but hopefully enough people will wake up. Not that McCain’s any prize, he’s not by any stretch of the imagination, but then again, those two are not the only ones running…

“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

I think that you will find, after Barack Obama is elected, that he is no socialist. I could be wrong, but I have read his policy plans and studied his votes and he really is NOT a socialist when you apply any legitimate standard to the word. He is not proposing massive government ownership (at least not beyond this bailout that many other non-socialists support). He is proposing an increased burden of taxes on the people with the most wealth (5% of the population, increased burden about 3%, levels we have seen in this country before). Use of “spread the wealth” was probably not the best choice Barack Obama has made in this campaign, but a hard look at his policies and, like him or not, you will find he is not a socialist. We’ll see, because he is probably going to win this thing.

    Hi rjjrdq,

You say in your blog above:
“It looks like Obama plans to remedy that little defect we like to call the Constitution.”

You may have forgot that George Bush has already gutted the constitution.

Habeas Corpus is gone…we have no more privacy in our telephone (cell or landline) calls or emails, or homes or records. Now they don’t even have to tell us or get a search warrant.

George Bush has told everyone that he would not be bound by any laws.

All of this will pass on to whoever wins the election…McCain has voted for and therefore backed up Bush’s position more than 90% of the time.

The Republican party really scares me now…they have already started to dismantle and destroy Democracy. They have sucked up all of Americas money and gave it to their cronies.

averagetodd: This government has shown graphically how competent they are with the peoples money. Obama is asking for more so he can “redistribute”? He hasn’t shown any competence ever, and the feds haven’t shown competence in recent times. Hand over more money to that sinkhole? No. I don’t make 250k, but I would like to one day. I don’t want Obama standing there with his hand out when I do.

thewordofme: I did mention King George in the post. Believe me, if he was running I woul d be ripping him daily. Maybe the worst pres ever…

Thanks for the Diebold link – I had an older one which didn’t do the trick.

I’m afraid that despite your good works, and those of others, we will be in for a very long haul — well just have towork even harder.
